So you tried what I posted earlier in this thread? Also try clicking the Low Graphics option for older computers. I had to use that for my laptop.

I actually completely removed TFC first and let steam install it directly. If you do this make sure you deleted everything TFC related in the old TFC directory and in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life. Then let Steam re-download it how it wants. Just make sure you backup all your custom stuff and then you can replace it in the directory I just posted.

Hope it works for ya piit! Just let me know if it does or doesn't, I'll try to help.

Is mp_consistency set to 1 on the server?

YOU DA MAN EASY!

I set the mp_consistency to 0 and it seems to have fixed EVERYTHING. Not just the mdl problems.

Good. The servers seemed more quiet yesterday and I was worried that there might be a loss of users.

I turned back on enable HD models if available as well and it works for me now too.

I don't think there should be much, if any, downside to changing the setting. My understanding is that it was intended to force people to have the same model/sound files as the server so people didn't use model cheats but since the vac anticheat system is in place now I don't think it is really necessary any more.

Did you add the variable to the needed config file (I would think it would be server.cfg but I can look into this more if need be) so that it doesn't get reset back if the server crashes?

Well, that was easy! I simply unchecked the setting in options and restarted TFC and it worked!
Thanks Omni!

Yep after you suggested that, I did a quick google search for it then started poking around the server. It wasn't in there at all, the server was empty so I figured it wouldn't hurt just to try. I added it to the server.cfg, restarted it, and it worked! It always reads the server.cfg when the server is booted, so there's no chance it'll revert back.

Glad to hear it works for you piit!

I can join the server now, but I can’t directly choose blue and then a class. Most of the times it takes too long and then I am forced to be a spectator.
Yesterday I got a warning that the map” canalzone” couldn’t be opened and TFC shut down spontaneously.
Do I have to reinstall TFC to get rid of these problems?

When you say it takes too long and you can't choose a class:

Do you mean that you click with your mouse and don't seem to get a response as if you aren't clicking in the right location? Or do you mean that it works with the mouse but it is just very sluggish?

Easykill, sorry for the late reaction. I found a solution on a Steam forum that worked quite nice.
But there has been an update for TFC that fixed the mouse problem, so now it's running fine for everyone I guess.

<---still having mouse problems. Specially after I die, and I click the mouse to respawn. Takes several seconds for a response. This is a hit or miss issue. Seems to happen during heavy action.

Kurgan, visit this site: http://steamcommunity.com/app/20/discussions/0/864977025921339746/
And try this: MOUSE/MOVEMENT LAG

If you experience a weird lag:

1) Enable/tick "Raw Mouse Input" in TFC Mouse Settings.

If you still have lag, its an FPS issue:

1) Disable/Untick "Wait For Vertical Sync" in TFC Video Settings.

2) add the following commands to your config.cfg or type in console:

gl_vsync "0"
fps_override "1"
fps_max "100"

3) Use this command in console to check your current FPS status:

cl_showfps "1"

Is this file in your team fortress classic directory anywhere?

I wonder if this happened immediately after you played on another server?  Perhaps something is being downloaded that this server doesn't like.

Sry peeps but, WOW I'm late with some input here >laffs
Valve re-created their file hierarchy from an earlier era >laffs 98`ish
where all other addmods>any added game content following the initial release
of the first game. In this case the game Half-Life. Shit ..back in them days
they were called Custom Games and were accsesed Thru the con or menu panel
Today. this feature is likewise available. Tho the client con has far less echo
than the server >laff ***BELOW IS THE NAV so u can see for yourself***
Enuf of that tho. lets move on.
A few things helpful fer yerself n the rest of us is to employ those little safeguards
such as >add any custom stuff to your 2 paks, create a third pak. Name it steam.pak
Dump the tfc paks, properly (extract) into your tfc folder. Nav to your steam library tfc game properties >Do Not Update. In steam developer mode u just -noupdate 20 70
Do a steam backup of yer game. Maps n such other downloads r cached, however
these also can be dumped into your game files and the precache can be switched
via the con or cfg. Delete your mdl's,wads, sprites .etc that prevent the clist connection
Disable clisnt varibles as needed ie, cl_upload 0 cl_download_ingame 0 you wont need them here, so write a cfg that switches the cvars and exe on all your other servers
Really way more info to list Butt ***NAV***
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life >Open hl.exe and from the menu select Change game.

Here's a visual of the w_grenade.mdl >btw this pic represents the hi def model
   >
Hl 1 and its mods contain this model, however tho, the hi def version of this mdl
is limited to OS, yer gaming rig, proper cfg's if you employ frequent video switches from the con and game and\or mod support.
Mentioned earlier, extracting files from your various paks can resolve certain issues
and is a must when dealing with custom stuff.
The above model in HD is currently unavailable for display in TFC. Hmm..another project?
